Products - Voyage Data Recorders - Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital S-VDR

The Kelvin Hughes MantaDigital S-VDR is the world's first Type Approved Simplified Voyage Data Recorder as defined by the requirements of IMO Performance Standard MSC.163(78) for Simplified Voyage Data Recorders (S-VDR).

The S-VDR system collects data from the sensors on board the vessel. It then digitises, compresses and stores this information in an externally mounted Crash Survivable Module (CSM). The CSM is a tamper-proof unit designed to withstand the extreme shock, impact, pressure and heat, which could be associated with a maritime incident.

The CSM can then be retrieved from the vessel and the stored data replayed by the authorities or owners for investigation purposes.

The complete system, including the CSM, Data Acquisition Unit (DAU) and interface electronics, is designed and manufactured within the Kelvin Hughes group. This provides guaranteed life support and quality control.
